 Community Involvement

Committed to the principle of giving back to the Florida Community, which Fowler White is grateful to have served for more than eighty years, the firm created the Fowler White Connects Community Service Initiative.

The program provides a venue for Fowler White attorneys, staff and their families to join together in a variety of efforts to support the important work of many worthy, not-for-profit organizations in the state of Florida.

From Habitat for Humanity Blitz Builds to participating in 5K runs, the firm encourages attorneys, staff and their families to be actively involved in enhancing the firm's presence in the communities it serves.

Fowler White Connects’ initiatives include involvement in the following organizations:

United Way of Miami-Dade

As part of its involvement with the United Way, Fowler White participates in a dodgeball tournament fundraiser at the American Airlines Arena. Now in its third year, the tournament includes teams from eight of Miami's top law firms and participation from over 200 staff, attorneys and partners.

The UPS 5K provides an opportunity for attorneys and staff to join together to run and raise money for many of the United Way’s programs.

Fowler White partners with United Way in promoting a canned food drive to feed ALICE Households during the holiday season. ALICE households are Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed households that earn more than the Federal Poverty Level but can barely cover the basics, including housing, transportation, child care, health care and food.

For 90 years, United Way of Miami-Dade has been an innovative force in the community with a long and successful track record of responding to emerging needs and transforming people's lives. Today, their work is focused on education, financial stability and health - the building blocks of a good life. They invest in quality programs, advocate for better policies, engage people in the community and generate resources.

Our Kids of Miami Dade/Monroe Inc.

During the holidays, members of the firm join together to collect gifts for 50 children in 24 families in the foster care system and raised over $1,500 to benefit OurKids of Miami Dade/Monroe Inc. OurKids creates safe havens for children and families through adoption and foster care. The organization strives to coordinate a system of care delivering excellence to abused, abandoned and neglected children and their families in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.

The HELLO Foundation

Wicked at the Wanderers, sponsored by Fowler White working in conjunction with the Young Professionals of Wellington, is a fun-filled evening of costume contests, dancing and a silent auction to benefit the HELLO Foundation. The HELLO Foundation aids in the transition of veterans returning from overseas to civilian life by partnering with colleges and universities across the country to establish Veteran Resource Centers that provide scholarship opportunities, mentoring and career development services to returning veterans.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami

Fowler White attorneys and staff come together to help build a home and completed various construction-related tasks as part of their participation in the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami Blitz Build. The Blitz Build is an accelerated construction event in which more than 1,500 volunteers work together to complete the building of 10 homes within two weeks to provide the deserving, low-income partner families of Habitat for Humanity with residences.

Zo's Hoop-Law Madness

Alonzo Mourning’s Hoop-Law Madness is a fundraising event designed to provide an opportunity for South Florida law firms to unite with corporate sponsors, business leaders and others in the community to make a difference in the lives of our children via the Overtown Youth Center (OYC).

OYC’s mission is to inspire and empower youth and families by fostering hope through enrichment services to over 400 children and families in Overtown and its neighboring areas. Program services include complimentary education and enrichment programs for at-risk elementary, middle and high school students. The agency also offers training on life skills, health & wellness, transportation, and most importantly, supportive and caring adults that monitor students’ progress on a daily basis. Through these services, OYC provides youth with the necessary tools to become productive, self-sustaining citizens in the community. OYC continues to monitor their progress until the age of 25.

Corporate Run

Fowler White is proud to sponsor this yearly run and its promotion that healthy employees make a healthy company. Both attorneys and staff gather in downtown Miami (along with 28,000 of our closest friends) to compete in the 5K run and enjoy each other's company at our team tent.
