Miami, FL – Fowler White Burnett attorney Christine M. Walker has been appointed Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Admiralty & Maritime Law Committee, which serves the ABA’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practices Section (TIPS).
Walker’s appointment, which begins on August 5, 2015, recognizes her commitment to the section and her expertise among its 24,000 members, said G. Glennon Troublefield, TIPS Section Chair-Elect. The purpose of TIPS is to promote the objectives of the ABA and to serve those involved in Tort Trial and Insurance Law by bring together lawyers of diverse background and practice by providing leadership, inspiring professional excellence and improving the civil justice system.
Walker, a member of the firm’s Maritime Practice Group who focuses her practice on all aspects of Admiralty Law, recently presented a paper on “Forum Selection Clauses” to the Admiralty Law Committee of the Florida Bar Association.
She received her LL.M. in Admiralty from Tulane University Law School, her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center, and a B.B.A. from the University of Miami. Walker also holds a Certificate in Financial Regulatory Law & Policy from Washington College of Law Summer Institute and a Certificate in Admiralty & International Law of the Seas from Tulane University Law School, Study Abroad Program.
An active volunteer within the South Florida community, she was named Volunteer of the Year in 2009 by the United Way of Broward County, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Humane Society of Broward County. As a member of the Sunflower Circle, Walker works with the Children’s Diagnostic Treatment Center, a volunteer group that serves children with chronic illnesses.
