Fowler White Burnett Hosts Central American Law Event

Fowler White Burnett, P.A. hosted Central American lawyers and L.L.M. candidates from the INIDEM Business Law School Wednesday night at their downtown Miami offices.  Attendees traveled from Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama to discuss timely topics in areas involving intellectual property, banking regulatory and merger climate, real estate and litigation,  as well as other pertinent matters currently affecting the region.

Fowler White Burnett is very involved in Central American matters, in part through one of their shareholders, Mr. John H. Friedhoff.  “It was an honor to host such a stellar group of lawyers and INIDEM scholars,” noted Mr. Friedhoff.  “We were pleased to have many from the prestigious law firm of Consortio Centro America, as well as INIDEM's president, Mr. Jose Evenor Taboada - CEO of Consortio and former president of the Central Bank of Nicaragua.”

Mr. Friedhoff’s experience and involvement in the region has been extensive through his representation of banks, multinational corporations and foreign investors, as well as through his service to the community as a trustee of Zamorano University.  Due to his considerable service within the region, Mr. Friedhoff was also past director and vice president of the Central American USA Chamber of Commerce.

The students in attendance are part of an executive L.L.M. program, which combines on-site and on-line modules at the INIDEM Business Law School headquartered in Panama with on-site modules every two months.  Fowler White Burnett graciously hosted this event to welcome the students and offer a more in-depth dialogue of the business relationship between Miami and Central America, and to discuss overlapping areas of practice.  For more information on INIDEM or Fowler White Burnett, please visit www.inidem.org or www.fowler-white.com, respectively.
