Fowler White Burnett Recognized by South Florida Legal Guide

Fowler White Burnett today proudly announced that the firm is recognized in the Top Firm category, six attorneys were listed as Top Lawyers and four were listed as Top Up & Comers by the South Florida Legal Guide, the region’s premier legal services publication, in its 2012 edition.

Top Lawyers

Henry Burnett has a career that has spanned nearly 60 years.  As a shareholder and founding partner of Fowler White Burnett, he is well-known as a distinguished attorney in South Florida’s legal community. Currently the firm’s general counsel, Mr. Burnett devoted his litigation practice to insurance defense, with a specific emphasis on medical malpractice.

Brian D. Elias is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Securities Law practice groups.  He has extensive experience in the representation of broker-dealers, senior officers, executives, securities brokers, and branch office managers in a wide range of securities and employment related matters pending in Federal and State courts, Appellate courts, arbitration forums, mediation and regulatory proceedings. 

June G. Hoffman chairs the firm’s Appellate Group and focuses exclusively on appellate matters, litigation support and trial counseling. Board Certified in Appellate Practice by The Florida Bar, June has litigated appellate matters in Florida’s District Courts of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court and the federal Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Allan R. Kelley focuses his practice on maritime law.  He regularly represents all areas of the marine industry, including major cargo carriers, cruise lines, commercial vessel owners, operators and charterers, shippers, consignees, marina operators, terminal operators, related marine interests and their insurers.  Allan handles both transactions and litigation matters.

Christopher E. Knight handles a broad range of civil litigation matters and leads a large team comprised of senior and junior partners, and associates.  He represents Fortune 500 companies, major insurance carriers, several airlines and manufacturers in state and federal courts. He has served as lead counsel in the defense of multi-district and class action litigation involving product liability, insurance and attorney general investigations.

Fred K. Lickstein focuses his practice on commercial transactions. He represents both private and public companies in a wide range of industries, particularly manufacturing, finance, insurance, construction and banking.

Top Up & Comers

James D. DeChurch focuses his civil litigation practice on claims involving catastrophic injury. He represents companies and major insurance carriers against a wide variety of claims, including professional liability, personal injury, wrongful death and products liability.

Erin Gaskin practices commercial litigation and insurance defense, with a particular emphasis on medical malpractice.  Erin holds a master’s degree in public health and prior to practicing law she worked as a mental health counselor and educator. She is among the team of attorneys who represent a major South Florida medical school, and she has contributed to the successful defense of complex multi-million-dollar medical malpractice claims.

Fabian A. Pal concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and international law. He counsels clients with respect to corporate transactions, corporate governance and finance, specifically private equity financing. His practice encompasses the structuring, negotiation and documentation of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic alliances involving privately owned companies.

Alice Sum represents corporations and individuals in complex, commercial litigation cases before state and federal courts, and in alternate dispute resolution forums.  She assists clients with a wide range of business disputes, including claims stemming from fraudulent practices, franchise and license agreements, corporate governance, partnership and joint venture agreements, mergers and acquisitions and breach of fiduciary duty. Alice has significant experience handling class actions, director and officer liability, errors and omissions and shareholder derivative claims.
