Firm Associate Christine M. Walker was a Co-Speaker at the American Conference Institute's 6th Annual Forum on Admiralty & Maritime Claims and Litigation. Howard E. Fox Presents On Environmental Law To The University Of Miami School Of Law

Environmental and Land Use Shareholder Howard E. Fox was recently joined by Rachel Silverstein, Ph.D., Executive Director & Waterkeeper of Miami Waterkeeper and Special Assistant United States Attorney Jodi Mazer for a presentation to Environmental Law Students at the University of Miami School of Law.  This special presentation discussed Environmental Enforcement and provided Environmental Law students in Professor Felix Mormann’s class the opportunity to get a first-hand perspective on practicing Environmental Law.

Fox’s broad-based environmental practice encompasses environmental and land use litigation, regulation and transactions as well as toxic torts and product liability.  He frequently represents publicly traded companies, including global manufacturers, distributors and power companies.  Previously, Fox served as a Senior Attorney in the Civil Enforcement Section of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), where he litigated cases involving the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, RCRA, Florida's CERCLA, Florida's Safe Drinking Water Act and many other environmental laws.  Earlier this year, Fox was appointed Vice Chair of Membership for the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER) Air Quality Committee for the 2016/17 term.

Associate Christine Walker spoke alongside Rebecca Hamra, (Senior Claims Executive, UK & Americas, Charles Taylor P&I Management (Americas), Inc.) on "Crew Claims 101: A primer for handling deserters, stowaways and whistleblowers in the U.S." in New Orleans at the conference Golden Rules: Tulane Admiralty Law Institute and Maritime Law Association’s 50 Year Reunion at the Joint Committee meetings of the Marine Ecology and Maritime Criminal Law Committee and the Regulation of Vessel Operations, Safety, Security and Navigation Committee, as well as the Government Counsel Committee. The program was also attended by a USCG Admiral and his support staff and an AUSA for Maritime and Shipping claims.

Fowler White Burnett Sponsors Dade County Bar Association’s Breakfast With Third District Court Of Appeal Judge Kevin Emas


Fowler White Burnett sponsored this morning the Dade County Bar Association (DCBA) Appellate Court Committee’s breakfast with Third District Court of Appeal Judge Kevin Emas.  This event was filled to capacity as our firm's Appellate Practice Group and a room full of DCBA members came out to hear Judge Emas discuss a variety of topics and personally answer questions from the audience.
Topics discussed included the importance of including the Standard of Review in appellate briefs, oral arguments and how they impact the Court's decision-making, and the use of hyperlinks of cases and the record for appellate briefs.

Our firm thanks Judge Emas and the Dade County Bar Association's Appellate Court Committee for allowing us to sponsor such an informative and pleasant event!

Shareholder Eric Rosen provided a lecture at a seminar for the Palm Beach County Bar Association's Bankruptcy CLE Committee on June 28, 2016. The seminar is entitled "The New Bankruptcy Forms: Petition, Schedules and Statement of Financial Affairs" and his lecture focused on "Debtor and Debtor's Counsel's Burdens and Goals".

Jesse D. Drawas
, Shareholder in Fowler White Burnett's Fort Lauderdale office, was interviewed on Community News and Review's  Legal News and Review Radio Show broadcasted on 1230 AM Radio - WBZT. Part of Community News and Review, the weekly segment Legal News and Review is moderated by radio personality Philip Bell and is designed to create marketplace awareness on topics and features interviews and open discussions on a variety of legal topics.

Jesse addressed The Investigation and Evaluation of Multi-Faceted and High-Exposure Claims, Including Class Actions and Complex Coverage Issues. The show was broadcasted on 1230 AM Radio (WBZT) and on iHeart HD Satellite Radio from 6:00-7:00 pm on Friday, May 20, 2016.

Jonathan H. Dunleavy, Shareholder in Fowler White Burnett's Miami office, will present at the Tampa Bay Mariners Club's Annual Maritime Insurance Seminar "Marine Insurance Policy? Now What?" on May 18-19, 2016, in St. Petersburg, Florida.  Jonathan will be addressing the Personal Injury Claim From Injury to Trial - Defense Perspective.

The Annual Maritime Industry/Marine Insurance Seminar Golf Tournament will be held the day before the Seminar on Wednesday, May 18, 2016.  This annual fundraiser goes to providing opportunities for the benefit of "Eckerd College - Search and Rescue".
