Shareholder John H. Friedhoff and Associate Robert H. Friedhoff Present at INIDEM Business Law School Master of Laws Program

Fowler White Burnett is pleased to announce that shareholder John H. Friedhoff and associate Robert H. Friedhoff were guest lecturers at the INIDEM Business Law School Master of Laws Program. 

The INIDEM Business Law School was founded in Panama in 2010 by a group of prominent lawyers and professors from various countries, to develop research and interdisciplinary training in Law and business with an innovative focus. Their Master of Laws program is a blended format structured program that combines 3 onsite, one intensive week (two in Panama and one in Miami) every 3 weeks with online courses. The program aims to train lawyers with a business vision. It complements their previous training with current, relevant, and practical content, without the participants having to leave the professional practice, work, or family responsibilities for an academic year. Faculty and lecturers include professors from 10 different nationalities, partners of recognized legal firms or consultants, and/ or professors at leading universities such as Stanford University, Georgetown University, ESADE, Catholic University of Chile.

John H. Friedhoff has been a guest lecturer at the school since its inception in Panama in 2010. His recent presentation was an in-depth analysis on Kidnapping and Ransom Insurance: Guidance on Implementation, and Robert H. Friedhoff’s was on Worldwide Trademark Portfolio Management. 

John has been certified as a specialist in international law for over 20 years and works in Fowler White's Corporate, International, and Intellectual Property practice groups where he represents foreign investors in their investments in the United States and abroad. John is a frequent speaker on issues relating to foreign investment in Latin America and has authored international contract forms for practitioners in the USA and abroad as well as on foreign investment in the USA. He previously served as Vice President of the Central-American Chamber of Commerce and President of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce and has spent over 50 cumulative years on boards of both profit and non-profit organizations, extending from a commercial bank to a university.

Robert has a background in corporate, intellectual property, employment, and foreign laws and has clerked for one of Brazil’s largest law firms. He has experience in the domestication of foreign companies, squeeze-outs of minority shareholders and members, foreign and domestic formation of business entities, economic substance reporting for foreign corporations, counseling clients on intellectual property matters, drafting of employment agreements, asset purchase agreements, real estate purchase, sale & rental agreements, as well as substantial work in the areas of the law surrounding distilled spirits law, U.S. trademark registrations, and worldwide trademark maintenance.
