Fowler White Expands Trusts & Estates and Commercial Litigation Practices with Addition of Shareholder Giovanna “Gia” Abreu O’Connor

Fowler White, a leading full-service law firm with more than 80 years of history, is pleased to announce that Giovanna “Gia” Abreu O’Connor has joined the firm as a Shareholder. A seasoned litigator with a decade of experience, O’Connor joins the firm’s Trusts & Estates and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups, where she will continue to represent clients in high-stakes estate, trust, guardianship, and business disputes throughout Florida.

O’Connor focuses her practice on probate, trust, and guardianship litigation, representing fiduciaries, beneficiaries, creditors, healthcare institutions, and interested parties in both trial and appellate courts. Her work includes will and trust contests, incapacity proceedings, breach of fiduciary duty claims, elder exploitation cases, and probate-related appeals. In addition, she has broad experience handling commercial litigation and real estate disputes.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gia to the firm,” said Christopher E. Knight, Managing Shareholder at Fowler White. “She is a deeply skilled litigator with a thoughtful, client-centered approach to some of the most sensitive and complex matters our clients face. Her experience across both trusts and estates and commercial litigation strengthens our bench and enhances our ability to deliver sophisticated solutions in and out of court.”

Recognized for her leadership and advocacy, O’Connor has been named to Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch, selected as a Florida Super Lawyers – Rising Star, and honored by the Florida Association for Women Lawyers as a “Leader in the Law.” She also serves in leadership roles with the Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers and Chapman Partnership’s NextGen Council.

“I’m proud to join a firm with such a strong reputation for excellence in litigation and client service,” said O’Connor. “Fowler White offers an incredible platform to continue growing my practice while contributing to a collaborative culture focused on results, integrity, and advocacy.”

Fluent in Spanish, O’Connor earned both her J.D. and B.A. in International Relations from Florida International University. She is admitted to practice in all Florida courts, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida.
