Susan H. Aprill Attains Credential Of Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator

 
Miami, FL – Fowler White Burnett attorney, Susan H. Aprill, has attained the credential of Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator, and is available to serve as a court appointed arbitrator.

Ms. Aprill recently served as chair of a three-member panel in the arbitration of a complicated business break up, including claims of tortious interference and usurpation of company intellectual property. The case spanned nearly three years and included eight days of testimony. As chair, she decided numerous pre-hearing discovery and procedures disputes, issuing over 80 orders.

Ms. Aprill's practice encompasses a variety of commercial litigation matters with particular emphasis on business disputes and the defense of officers and directors of condominium and homeowner associations. She also currently represents family members, beneficiaries and trustees involved in probate litigation.

Ms. Aprill has served as a receiver for a luxury property and for a mobile home park and periodically serves as a special master. She has represented limousine and for-hire service companies and employers in employment matters; reporters, broadcasters and publishers in First Amendment in the defense of libel claims as well as private individuals being sued for libel; financial institutions and private lenders in foreclosure and intra-institutional litigation, real estate developers and owners; doctors and other health care providers, and a variety of domestic and foreign businesses across multiple industries in commercial matters often of a complex nature. Ms. Aprill has also represented debt collectors and debt buyers in disputes related to consumer protection statutes, and cases arising out of insurance premium audits for a major carrier.

Alyssa Razook Wan Named To 40 Under 40 Outstanding South Florida Lawyer List

Miami, FL – Fowler White Burnett attorney, Alyssa Razook Wan, has been named one of the 40 Under 40 Outstanding Lawyers of South Florida by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The prominent charitable organization will celebrate Wan and other honorees at a gala event on Nov. 7 at the FIU Kovens Conference Center in North Miami.

The foundation’s selection committee, which comprises well-known South Florida attorneys and community leaders, selected 40 recipients of the award based on demonstrated excellence in the legal field and contributions to the community.

In her work for Fowler White Burnett, Wan represents individuals with respect to domestic and international tax and estate planning, including structuring real property transactions. Before earning her Master of Laws in Taxation, Wan practiced commercial litigation and represented companies and individuals in a variety of business and real estate disputes.

Wan enjoys writing for several legal publications, including those published by the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association Taxes Newsletter and the Dade County Bar Association Bulletin.

She is currently assisting Alas Solidarias, Inc. to apply for tax-exempt status as a non-profit charitable organization from the Internal Revenue Service. Alas Solidarias supports projects that empower and enrich the lives of those with disabilities, and help them integrate into society.
